Our mascot, The Brain.

Books Equal Brains was founded on a hot day in July 2012 by 16-year-old girl who loved to read. She also loved to talk, but her friends could only take so much of her babbling about books, so she decided to start a blog instead. 

Books Equal Brains is a book review blog focusing on young adult novels. It also features book news and random musings by its sole author. Its official mascot is The Brain, seen in the image on the right. (Ain't he cute?)

Now, What exactly does "Books Equal Brains" mean?

                                                         In the founder's mind, it can mean a multitude of things:

                                                         a) that reading books makes you smarter;

                                                         b) that books have brains and lives of their own;

                                                         c) anything you want it to mean.

Hey there! My name is Mary. I'm currently a high school student living in the amazing city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada! I love books. I've loved them since I was a kid, and hopefully I'll be reading the heck out of them until I'm 100.  I've been surfing the blogosphere for years, and now I've decided to start a blog of my own, so please bear with the endless number of stupid things I will say and do.

 Also, like many of you, I am still awaiting my acceptance letter from Hogwarts. I am not in denial. It's a long way from Britain to Canada; the owl must have gotten lost...
